Solutions&co

Solutions&Co is an editorial operation that gathers each year 20 economic media outlets to bring the attention of the major economic actors on climate change and to already existing solutions.

Putting forward innovative enterprises for climate

To accelerate the environmental transition of companies, Solutions&Co puts forward innovations that tackle climate change all over the world! Each year, this international 20 media-outlets-alliance (Yicai Global, Les Echos, The Financial Times, Handelsblatt, Valor Economico, The Hindu Business Line…) brings the attention of the biggest economic actors on climate issues and puts forward over 50 innovative corporative solutions in favor of climate.

Economic journalists, companies and spokespeople on environmental transition

We develop impact journalism by offering the world’s media outlets to research emerging solutions in their own country. Articles are then gathered to produce print supplements with a holistic approach to business solutions for the climate. This media operation provides startups that find solutions to climate change with new opportunities to replicate and develop. Beyond the media’s role to amplify solutions, we also believe that companies have a role to play. These articles aim at inspiring large companies to take more action against global warming in their field. This operation is supported by SUEZ and Total this year. Our mission is therefore to federate an ecosystem made out of economic journalists, of companies and spokespeople on ecological transition all over the world such as Mary Robinson, Nicolas Hulot, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Jennifer Morgan, Bertrand Piccard, etc. After a first edition centered upon solutions brought by corporations, a second focused cities’ challenges and 2017 focused on the circular economy.

On the occasion of Solutions&Co’s third edition, we published an ebook entitled “Why Circular Economy?”. It is inclusive of the greatest experts contributions on circular economy (Walter Stahel, William McDonough…) and concrete examples of project-launching in favor of this new economy at a corporate level (Ryan Gellert de Patagonia, Jean Christophe Laugée de Danone…). This book supplies a 360° vision with examples from the whole world to show that circular economy is not utopian but an existing reality. We developped an interactive infographics translated in 7 languages and visited by 35,000 people as well as a quiz on the circular economy that attracted 12,000 players.

MUD Jeans and the Balbo Group: some success stories

MUD Jeans is one of these examples of change. 80 billion new clothes are produced in the world each year, with devastating consequences on society and environment. Dutch company MUD Jeans might change this fact. Their jeans are not to be sold, but to be rent! Then, MUD recycles denim from damaged pairs of jeans to make new jeans.

Balbo Group, the largest producer of organic sugar in the world, is also the first Brazilian company to have produced sugar canes on a big scale with regenerative agriculture methods. The Native program has shown that this culture, although very water-consuming, could be produced in harmony with circular economy values, without damaging the envirionment and remaining profitable. In 2015, Native, has cultivated 22,000 hectares for over a 10 million dollars profit.
